A Brief History of Hash.co.uk - The Story So Far:
Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." - Genesis 1:29, circa 1450 BC.
If you have made it this far then I'm guessing we have a little something in common, and if you have a moment, I'd like to share with you the story of this site so far. In October 1997, I purchased this domain with a simple goal in mind: to create a space for smokers to connect and share their passion. I set up email accounts for my close smoker friends and began building a directory of smoking related links and news. However, as I expanded the site to include a smokers' forum and a seedbank, I encountered resistance from the UK Government. They argued that my activities constituted "incitement to commit a crime" due to the illegal nature of cannabis cultivation in the UK without a Home Office license. Despite my best efforts, I was forced to shut down these projects and for more than a decade, the domain remained dormant. But then, in 2020, the world changed. The COVID-19 pandemic led to lockdowns with more time spent at home and fortunately more time to work on neglected projects. I saw an opportunity to revive the community and share this domain with a wider audience, and as such, after much work, I'm proud to be in a position to offer a free @hash.co.uk email address to anyone who wants to join our community. I believe in the power of connection and the importance of community, especially in these times of over regulation, so I'm now passing the joint to you, grab yourself a free email address and become one of us.
"Hash is currently illegal in countries where the Government feels it is best to make decisions for an individual, including what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes. Hash should be regulated, and sold, like alcohol." - Anonymous, October 1, 2003.
